Wes – Adopted April 13, 2013

Wes was adopted after spending over a year with us, making him one of our longest stays ever. We are hugely appreciative of the efforts of his champions, volunteers Amie and Jae, and of the staffers at TLAC, especially Marky, Greg, Jen, Laurelai, and Robert. Wes’ issues were his size (85+ pounds) and his exuberance. But HLH founder David Pasztor tells us about this adopter:
Wes was adopted by Kelly, who picked him because he is so much like the dog she adopted from TLAC about 10 years ago and had to say goodbye to late last year. Kelly knows Wes needs lots of walks and indestructible toys (which he will destroy) and is completely comfortable with his exuberance and heft. So after one year and 13 days, it looks like Wes has found his forever home. Amie, Jae, and a lot of other volunteers worked hard on Wes’ behalf, and it was worth the wait.
Here’s what we originally said about Wes:
HLH Wes is back from training and ready to find his forever home!
Wes is a big boy but he walks well on leash. He knows sit. Wes is okay on leash with other dogs but would probably be best as an only dog or maybe with a female dog. He has not shown any aggression with kids but he is a big fella so older kids would likely be better.
He is 100% house trained and crate trained. Wes is HW-.
Please stop by Town Lake (1156 W Cesar Chavez) to visit this handsome boy. He is in kennel #21.

Wes is an AWESOME dog! Don’t let his big playful size scare you, he is a LOVE and knows his name as well as perhaps some commands. I volunteer at the shelter and would love to see Wes head out to his forever home!
