KittyPalooza

The heat is on, so it’s the “purrfect” time to join a bunch of really cool cats at the fifth annual Kitty Palooza, June 30-July 1 at the Austin Animal Center, 7201 Levander Loop.Austin Animal Center staff and volunteers will be extending hours and for 12 hours of adoptions from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Adoption fees for all shelter cats and kittens will be waived for Saturday and Sunday only.

Sponsored in part by the Friends of the Austin Animal Center the first 200 adopters will get an amazing goodie bag full of supplies your new cat(s) will enjoy. “We’ve booked a wide variety of acts,” said Foster Coordinator Sarah Hammond. “It’s obvious that Austin’s got talent.”

From old favorites like Simon & Purrbunkle, the Steve Litter Band and The Yowling Stones to some of the hottest new artists like Kings of Meow, Katy Purry and Neon Kittens these talented felines are sure to put a song in your heart, and unlike most festivals, the shelter will make it easy to take your favorite artist or artists home with you.
“Many of these young groups have really matured beautifully, and it’s been a lot of fun to watch them grow and come into their own,” said Abigail Smith, Chief Animal Services Officer. “Now we want to get them the exposure and recognition they deserve, and we’re hoping to get multiple (adoption) contracts signed on this exciting weekend.”

• Pop – Britney Spays, Mariah Kitty, Furgie, Justin Timberlap, The Pussycat Dolls, Hissy Elliot, Meowin’ 5, Jessie McCatney, Kitty & the Sunshine Band, and They Might Be Kittens
• Alternative – Cold Purr, Catboy Slim, Speck, Purrl Jam, The Black Stripes, 9 Inch Tails, and OutKats. Purrvana
